Nigerian actor Yul Edochie’s divorce from his estranged wife May has faced further delays, causing heightened intrigue in the ongoing proceedings.

The 42-year-old actor first made headlines when he announced Judy Austin as his second wife in April 2022. Despite having two children with Austin, Edochie later denied being legally married to her, insisting their relationship revolves around skitmaking, Premium Times Nigeria reported.

May filed for divorce in August 2023, with the case kept largely out of the public eye. Due Process Advocates (DPA), May’s legal team, revealed on Facebook on May 7 that the proceedings had hit a roadblock.

“Trial could not go ahead today as scheduled because two days ago, he proposed several dates in the future as an alternative and requested the court to pardon him,” they stated.

“Typically, the court offers the lawyer some leeway in such situations. May’s legal team, however, preferred not to directly question the opposing lawyer’s integrity, even though the excuse seemed questionable,” they continued.

Yul’s and Judy’s lawyer sent a letter to the court citing illness as the reason for his absence, which delayed the hearing further.

Edochie did appear in court on May 7, but without his counsel, resulting in the postponement of the proceedings, according to DPA. Another hearing is now set for June, leaving fans and observers curious about how this legal drama will unfold.
