Iconic American musician, Stevie Wonder, has embraced Ghana as his new homeland, taking the Oath of Allegiance and proudly receiving his Certificate of Citizenship.

This monumental ceremony unfolded on Monday, May 13, within the halls of the Jubilee House, Ghana’s seat of government.

The renowned singer-songwriter, who has won 25 Grammy Awards along with numerous nominations, including an honorary accolade, made waves with his decision to make Ghana his new abode.

His words shared during a conversation with Oprah Winfrey back in February 2021, echoed his longing for a brighter, more harmonious future away from the political upheaval in the United States.

“I wanna see this nation smile again. And I want to see it before I leave to travel to move to Ghana because I’m going to do that,” he said.

Upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport, Wonder was greeted by a local music troupe with a cultural display and drumming at the Kotoka International Airport.
